21 Day Fix

Teething

Teething is not fun as it would normally go. Two kids getting 4 teeth in a matter of days = no fun and no sleep. Sara's bottom two teeth just cut 2 days apart. Danyal's first top tooth is just cutting. However, it appears they hurt a lot. Last night for example in our house these are the times that kids woke up wanting comfort or bottles - 10:30, 11:30, 2, 3, 4, 5:20, and the first one was up for the day at 6am. This has been going on for DAYS!

It would be ok somedays but the husbands schedule is awful right now. He has a days this week to work from 5:30 am to 8pm plus he will have two call days. This means he can't help with the kids. This happens a lot. I usually get days off to sleep when he is on vacation.

I should mention yesterday Sara's weight was 15lbs 14oz (10th percentile) and her height was 27 inches (50th percentile).

So until sanity is restored I will leave you with Sara having a fun time with cookie monster.

None to happy

So since Sara was born her head has been shaped like a football and totally flat in the back. We talked to her Ped. about this at EVERY appointment and she always blew us off that it would fix itself.

Sara is now 8 months old and I took her to a specialist today and she does have Plagiocephaly and certain portions of her head are no where near equal. They think a lot of it is from her being a twin (very common in twins) and her position in the womb, i.e. she kept me dilated at 4cm but never moved from there.

So, in 2 weeks my baby girl will get a helmet for 2-4 months to be worn 23 hours a day. UGH! The Dr. said she should have come in near 4-6 months and we would have it fixed already by now. Needless to say I will be switching Peds. in the practice as her Dr. has pissed us off more than once and I don't want to see her for 17 more years!

In 2 weeks I will be Blinging out Sara's helmet, my poor girl if she has to wear it at least she can be styling!

Where did the time go?

How did 8 months come and go so fast? They can do so much now. I pulled out their outfits that they came home from the hospital, preemie outfits that were to big! Oh, how my babies have grown.

They are so different but so similar. Oddly, they have the same laugh which I love.

Could be better

I realize that though I stay home with the kids I probably haven't been the greatest friend to some people. Part of it could be that I am still struggling with getting both kids out at the same time as they do everything at different times. Teeth, nap, get up, be happy. As long as they are being rolled in a stroller they seem to be good but restaurants scare me yet. Me + 2 kids alone in a restaurant I am not sure of.

The kids are finally on the road to being healthy but now all of the top teeth are coming in and it is rough! If spring would come it would seem a bit easier. I am feeling cooped up and crazy!

My poor babies

It started off with me having a sinus and ear infection. Soon the husband was sick. THEN somewhere along the way the kids picked up strep. Not strep throat, no perianal strep, um yuck! To top it off 3 days later I was back at the doctor as Danyal was barking and coughing. Turns out it is a cold/upper respiratory. Thankfully they are both already on antibiotics so no one should end up with pneumonia. However, being that they are twins they share everything. Bottles, toys, smacks to the face with germs, just not a bed.

So now it has been over a week since Danyal originally got sick and he is improving. Sara just started having the cold from his cough yesterday. Needless to say my baby has been up since 2am and will only sleep in her swing but coughs up a lung all while asleep!

I can say I feel lucky that we made it almost to 8 months with no other major illness besides ear infections. I guess we were due.

On a happy note I see grass in my front yard!!!!! Bring out the sandals! I cannot wait to get out for a walk around the lake.

How did we not know?!

I am a HUGE Sarah McLachlan fan. Enormous! I knew when all of her concerts were, I begged my best friend to let us go to Lilith Fair even thought I was only a week away from 38 weeks pregnant with twins and on bedrest (she said no). So in the midst of all of this how did we not know she was in Minneapolis for a concert?!

To make a long story short we found out at 5pm she was in town and there was a 7:30pm concert. I sent a WTF! text to my BFF. When I found out even she didn't know we were both just shocked. The ever loving husband then said "why don't you go?" Are you kidding?! I quickly called the BFF and withing 5 minutes we had tickets. She drove in from Wisconsin and we made it to the show with 10 minutes to spare. Can I state BEST SHOW EVER! It was better than 1998 and 1999 Lilith Fair! That says a lot. I cannot get over the show still. It will keep me going on my sleepless nights as 3 out of 4 people in our house are sick.

I have the best husband for saying go to the show. The best BFF ever for just jumping onto the spontaneous train with me. And the best kid for kind of behaving for dad that night.

7 months already?

Where did the time go? I miss my 5 & 6 lbs kids, they hurt my back so much less then!

I wouldn't trade it now though for the laughs, the mamama, dadada, cuddles, and all of the happiness.

Danyal is doing so good sitting up on his own. Sara is getting there.

I lost my mojo

Have you seen it? I was doing so great working out and then my mom's surgery happened. I need to find mojo and get back on the treadmill. Even better I want to get outside with out 18 feet of snow all around me!!

I cannot wait for Friday. On Friday the husband starts vacation and I have a week of help and a date night or two and maybe even a few nights of childfree sleep! The small joys in life!

Fyi, the kiddos LOVE mangos!!
