Surviving teething.

I have a feeling that the terrible twos may be easier than two teething kids. Danyal's first bottom tooth has poked through and it is sharp! Sara is about a week or two behind him.

The kids have also taken an interest in food. We have determined that banana's, pears, carrots, sweet potatoes, and apples are ok. Green beans can hit the road! I have to say I agree with the kids, those are awful!

I cannot wait!

I have already started looking for the kids outfits for their 6 month pictures. So far Sara has a pink tutu with a white onesie with her name in rhinestones and a pink dress. Danyal has a suit from grandma but I found a Dino tie!!! Perfect! Oh I am so excited!

New year new changes

I do have to say I am so happy for the year of 2010 and so glad it is over. My husband will say the same thing and add it was the toughest year for us. The 4 months of bedrest and 3 months of unidentified postpartum illness really took a toll on the both of us.

The kids are now 5 months old and I am finally feeling "normal" enough to workout 60-80 minutes a day. I love this time. We take turns hopping on the treadmill in the basement and it is a nice break from the kiddos. I love them dearly but I realized I turned into "that mom". The one who was taking care of everyone but me. Now it is time for me to enjoy life a little.

As for New Years goals..hmm I hate resolutions but I will call them lifestyle changes.
1) I want to keep up on the walking again for at least 300-400 minutes a week. I feel so good and energized afterwards. My tendon is even holding up great. I think the pregnancy was good for my tendon.
2) When spring gets here I want to get out walking the lakes with the kids. Last year was shot to the idea of getting outside with bedrest.
3) Lose the last of the pregnancy weight. Given I don't have much to go but it is stubborn.
4) This one isn't up to me but the working out will help. Pray that I don't get twin skin. I will admit there is more skin than there used to be but I was basically 4 feet around the middle, um a little scary!
5) Find some time alone for the husband and I! Try and start bi-weekly dates. With his schedule and someone to watch the kiddos it isn't to easy.
6) Listen to my tendon while working out.
7) Appreciate the people in my life more.

Here is to a new year! The last time I made a weight loss resolution I lost 30 lbs (2005) and kept it off until the pregnancy. Here is hoping to do it again.

Spoiled kiddos

I am pretty sure I don't need to buy the kiddos new clothes for a while. They received mostly clothes and a few toys for Christmas which is perfect. Being that our house is a smaller 1904 Dutch Colonial we don't have room for big toys. They loved the Christmas lights most of all. I can hardly believe they are 5 months old today. Time has flown by!

I love lists

No really. I have a list for everything vacations, an ongoing Target list, and a daily to do list. There has been one big change to my lists in the last 5 months. Since the kids have joined us a short list that used to take 1/2 a day to complete now takes 2 weeks! I guess this is the craziness of motherhood. I will take a longer list any day for my two cuties.

On the kids front Danyal can now roll both ways and Sara is starting to roll from back to stomach. They both love to be held so they can stand but Sara is much better about holding her head up than Danyal. Then again the kid has a HUGE head. There must be a big brain in there.

I admit I love the Harry Potter books

More than that however, I love what the Harry Potter series has done. The series has created an entirely new world, encouraged kids and adults alike to read again, and created common ground at the dinner table. I have never seen a book series create such a frenzy. I admit, I was one of the "muggles" who would buy the book at midnight the day it was released. Given, I have always loved reading. On summer breaks I would read every book I could.

I hope someday my children will read the series and become as entranced as their parents did with the series. I cannot wait to go see the movie this morning with my two best ladies!

Giggles

My kids now giggle. Full on breakout laughing. Sara found the word vomit HILARIOUS the other day. I know she is young but she had just thrown up everywhere from her reflux. Danyal seems to enjoy trying to roll over and smack his sister. Let the fun begin!

I cannot believe both kids are teething. They seem so young but are doing most things early. I do have to admit I take them out far less since it is now flu season and they seem to pick up every illness near them. I know I cannot protect them forever but the first 6 months are crucial to preemies.

I am waiting to see how they react to a Christmas tree with blinking lights!
