Nostalgia and hardwood floors

I think this weekend I will be taking down Sara's crib. My baby girl is growing up. Being that everyone is sick again we have really taken to cuddling. How could I say no in the middle of the night when she looks at me and says "mommy can we cuddle". We all have the nasty coughs and in her big girl bed at least she can be semi-upright. However, even last night that didn't help. She picked up right where Danyal left off. The coughing that turns into a case of the vomit monster. That was last night until almost 11.

The only issue with that was I went to the dr. I have an ear infection And bronchitis. Hence much like the kids I cough for hours on end. So when Sara started coughing I was about a half hour into my cough syrup with codeine happy place. Eventually we all got to sleep. I really hope all the drugs finally kick this out. I was told to hold off on running as the wheezing and coughing isn't a great combo.

I am not sure what to do with her crib. I am not sure I am ready to part with it yet. We bought her crib when she was about 8 months old as they crib shared in danyals and were in mini cribs to start. Kids actually grow up. Who knew.

7

That is how many ear infections have occurred in our house since December!! I found out why buddies feels so awful, double ear infection. The poor thing coughs day and night. Then at nap he told me- I want to go to the dr, my ear hurts, it's making noise. Smart kid and thank heavens he can verbalize full sentences. He is already up now so we will see if I can do 48 hours on 3 hours of sleep.

Off to go rock little man to sleep again.

Sleep deprivation

Whatever this cough is, it never goes away! I still have it as do both kids. Even worse now Danyal is up again with a fever. This means no school for the rest of the week.

A single virus wouldn't be so bad but this never ends in the winter. I wish we lived in a warmer place just so the kids could get out more. I feel bad right now as his fever has been brought down,he is still coughing but now wants to do anything but sleep. He wants to go to the couch, cuddle, eat, read a book, etc. Anything but sleep. So far tonight that makes 30 minutes of sleep for me. It's gonna be a long few days.

This means once again running will have to be shoved back. I am still sick as it is. And usually end up worse than anyone when sleep deprivation comes in. Now it's off to see if I can get him to sleep. No luck so far after 2 hours.

I will add. It is now morning. I managed an hour of sleep from when I got Danyal to sleep and Sara got up. I hate winter.

3 10k's

I have signed up for virtual runs to try and motivate me to have/need to run longer distances. In 1 week I just ran 3 and shaved 7 minutes off my 10k time.

There was a good discussion about how to improve you race time. I have found at races I just naturally run faster when in the crowds. However, the overall consensus is to run longer distances and your time will start to improve on its own a bit. I can see that this is true. Maybe up to 7 mile runs this week?

I should say- prior to this week I have run 1 10k. Last August! My average long run was 5-6 miles. Here is to hoping for those half marathons this year.

Week 1 in review

Well my running was a lot better than I planned. My goal was to fit 14 miles in. Instead I managed 18.5 miles with two 10k's. Out of all that I even had two rest days with 2 sick kids again. As I am writing this 3 out of 4 of us are sick again. The mucinex seems to be helping me a bit. Ugh whatever is going around this winter never truly goes away.

I do have to say that running two 10k's in one week really gave me hope that maybe I will get a half marathon in sooner rather than later. As for running today. Not gonna happen with how I feel. Hopefully a run tomorrow and I can finish another paper.

I'll take it

It's 4 minutes more than my 10k in August, but I will take it.
